Research Paper #1 Part I: Annotated Bibliography and finding primary sources on men's magazine

Before, Friday, Oct. 15 class, you must conduct research in order to complete the first part of research paper #1: Annotated Bibliography. A detailed description of this portion of the research paper and the entire assignment, can be found under Assignments on our class blog.

As I suggested in class, to access a hard copies of a year's worth of issues of men's magazine, you should go to your public library and see which magazines they subscribe to.

You may also access GQ and Esquire via LaGuardia Community College library website. Here are the directions on how to do so (*If you having problems with this, go to the college library and conduct your search there, so that you can ask the librarian for help if you encounter any problems):
To access GQ magazine and Esquire magazine via LAGCC library.
-Go to http://www.laguardia.edu/home/
-Click on libraries, top left
-Click on library media resources center
-in the middle of the page, on the menu under Research & Find, click on Find articles & books online (subscription databases)
-this will bring you to Find Articles and Books Online via Subscription Databases, and beneath this heading, towards the right, click on  Find a Specific Journal, Magazine, or Newspaper
-this will bring you to a page-Find a Specific Journal or Magazine; there you will see:

Find journals, magazines, or newspapers by title or ISSN
Examples: New York Times, Journal of the American Medical Association, or Newsweek Title begins with Title equals Title contains all words ISSN equals
-in the second box, type in the title of a men's magazine (GQ or Esquire) and then click Search
-1 record retrieved for the search: Title begins with "Esquire"
A search for Esquire will yield the following result:

	in LaGuardia Print Periodicals: search CUNY+ for specific holdings
	from 12/01/1992 to present in Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center
	from 01/01/1996 to present in Academic Search Complete and MasterFILE Premier
	from 01/01/1996 to 45 days ago in Academic OneFile and General OneFile
	from 01/14/2005 to present in LexisNexis Academic

 

A search for GQ will yield the following result:

To access Esquire in hard copy version follow these steps(*you will need to go to our college library to pick up/check out the magazine):

Go to http://www.laguardia.edu/home/ -Click on libraries, top left

-this will take you to the following page:
