Masculinity and race discussion, and Final Drafts of Paper #1: Analyzing an Ad due on Friday, Oct. 8
Today we discussed Marable's "The Black Male: Searching Beyond Stereotypes" and on Friday we will discuss Zinn's "Chicano Men and Masculinity." Please access the Zinn reading via Blackboard as it is not on the blog. Make sure that your do the reading as everything we discuss from Theroux until Oct. 22 will be on the Midterm exam. Also, today we began review the steps for the 1st Research Paper and will begin thinking about research strategies and continue MLA documentation review in class on Friday. Last but not least, make sure you bring in a hard, paper copy of your final draft of Paper #1: Analyzing an Ad to class on Friday. While there is a printer in C238, I'm not sure whether everyone will be able to print his/her paper. So as the Boy Scout saying goes, "Better Safe than Sorry," and so my advice is that you come to class with a hard copy of your final draft. Also, Bryan reminded me at the end of class that I forgot to review the MLA documentation for the advertisement, so we will take care of that first thing on Friday. But if you want to try it on your own, look in The Little Penguin Handbook on page 95 and adapt the format to a magazine, rather than television, advertisement.

ReplyDeleteWhile I was working on my draft, I noticed how I kept contradicting myself and how my paper did not work at all. so i typed up an entirely new draft and was wondering, if it is not to much of a bother, If you would give it a quick once over and give me some feed back.
Hi Ms.B im sorry i missed class on monday i was sick, but i have a couple questions about what is due friday, i talked to a couple students already but it didnt really help so i was wondering if you could help me out. First off the final draft is typed & and handed in to you? and also what exactly do we have to scan & put on to the flash drive? hopefully you get back to me soon

ReplyDeleteOn friday, the final draft of Paper#1: Analyzing an Ad is due. You should bring a hard copy to class with you as I don't know whether we can use the printer that is in the computer lab. Also, you should read the Research Paper 1 assignment which you can find on the class blog under Assignments, as we discussed it on Monday. Last but not least, make sure you do the reading which is scheduled on the syllabus. As I mentioned on the syllabus and on first day of class, you should save all your work on a flash drive, just in case the internet is down, and you can't access your blog and your papers.
